Meta Launches Enterprise AI Division, Hires MongoDB's Sitting CEO to Lead It
Meta has launched a new business division, the Meta Enterprise Platform, that packages its AI models, agents, and coding tools for enterprise customers. Zuckerberg called it 'the next major pillar of our business' on X. Meta also hired MongoDB's sitting CEO to run it.

What Happened
On Monday, September 28, Meta announced the Meta Enterprise Platform, a brand-new business division that turns its AI models, agents, and coding tools into enterprise products and services. Zuckerberg posted on X, calling it 'the next major pillar of our business.'
At the same time, Meta poached sitting MongoDB CEO Chirantan 'CJ' Desai as the newly created Chief Enterprise Platform Officer, reporting directly to Zuckerberg and effective immediately. Desai is tasked with turning Meta's AI stack into products and services companies can actually deploy.
The news was first reported by Reuters' Harshita Mary Varghese on September 28. Desai had been MongoDB's CEO for less than a year (appointed November 2025); before that he led product and engineering at Cloudflare, and before that spent nearly eight years at ServiceNow, rising to president and COO.

Context
The enterprise AI market already has its incumbents: OpenAI makes money on APIs and enterprise subscriptions, Anthropic wins on high-value enterprise deals, and Microsoft pushes Copilot across the Office suite. All three have turned 'selling AI to businesses' into recurring revenue.
Meta's AI products had been consumer-focused — the Muse personal agent's 730K downloads in five days was described by analysts as potentially the biggest US app launch since ChatGPT.
Muse launched on September 8, and three weeks later Meta formed its enterprise division. Desai previously worked at Cloudflare (enterprise infrastructure) and ServiceNow (enterprise software sales).
Why it matters
